Middle Office Supervisor (Job Number: 1311758)
Description
AIS Operations is made up of a number of hedge fund and private equity servicing functional areas such as Trade Execution, Trade Capture, Custody, Middle Office, Reconciliation, Billing, etc. AIS Operations assists the research and resolution of general and basic operational issues regarding fund administration. Follows existing documentation, process flows, and standard operating procedures to complete routine day-to-day tasks.
Middle Office team manage the entire process from trade entry through to settlement, ensuring that all trades are matched, settled and reconciled in a timely and efficient manner.
Middle Office Team is responsible for:
- Reconciliation of accounts (position and cash) and breaks investigation
Calculation of collateral requirements, investigation and resolution of Collateral cash breaks
- Settlement of PnL in liaison with Compliance
- Management of trade exception failures
- Security static data maintenance (identifiers, rates, coupon schedules, etc.)
- Setting up new instruments in the system (OTC and listed instruments)
- Accounts set up (PB, listed derivative, portfolio swap, FX, OTC, collateral etc.) in the system
Middle Office Supervisor:
- He/ She is operationally responsible for Administrators and Senior Administrators in a group,
- He/ She acts as the main point of contact for any queries escalated by the Administrators,
- He/ She must ensure that all BNY Mellon and regulatory daily, weekly, monthly and annual procedures and reporting tasks are adhered to, breaches of controls etc. are reported to the appropriate parties,
- He/ She manages the operations of their business unit in terms of client relationships, administration and controls,
- He/She must create a balanced work load within the team structure as a whole, anticipate and plan ahead to adhere to deadlines, ensure cross training to provide cover within the team. Constantly monitors team members and their development,
- He/She must ensure that all key information is provided to other departments,
- He/She must support general administrative initiatives to ensure that corporate directives are delivered to their teams,
- He/She must understand client needs, respond efficiently and effectively to any queries or requests, establish a professional relationship with clients and build confidence as a reliable contact,
- He/She must lead by example, inspire confidence, trust and respect in others, communicate regularly with their team with regard to corporate and team specific information,
- He/She must display an understanding/appreciation of team concerns/issues both to team members, direct manager and where appropriate Senior Management.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelors / Masters degree in an accounting related discipline,
- A minimum of three years relevant work experience,
- Technical knowledge how financial instruments works - both listed and unlisted. Instrument types include, but are not limited to, equities, options, contracts for difference (CFDs), equity swaps, futures, forward contracts, bonds, interest rate swaps and credit default swaps,
- An in-depth technical knowledge of middle office and/or back office procedures gained within a cross-product operations role would be beneficial,
- Computer literacy, highly skilled in the use of spreadsheets, word processing packages,
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English,
- High degree of accuracy;
- Ability to adhere to rigid deadlines;
