Context
GDBS Budapest handles DIAGEO-wide transactions across various world regions in a multicultural, multi-language environment and currently growing up as a more strategic, value-added provider of expert service, a true centre of excellence.
In addition, GDBS Budapest is increasingly playing a central role in overall governance and compliance for Diageo and has been charged by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to be Diageo’s control exemplar accountable for the execution of operations and governance of shared services including SOX/CARM compliance in respect of all Diageo finance shared services, irrespective of whether delivered from Budapest/elsewhere or by Diageo/outsourced providers.
Global Supply took their finance organisation under review and decided to transfer, establish further RTR (Record to Report) roles in GDBS with increased responsibility for financial accounting and reporting with the long-term aim to take full accountability.
The Senior Supply Financial Accountant will act as a key person in providing consistent and accurate maintenance of the financial ledgers within Global Supply operations, packaging and centralised general ledger maintenance accounting.


Dimensions of the role

The Senior Supply Financial Accountant reports directly to the Supply Financial Controller, closely supports the ISC Finance Team and the BPM team both in Edinburgh and Dublin. Liaises with other internal & external stakeholders.

The role covers various supply businesses on SAP International Supply Centre

Leadership Responsibilities
The senior Supply Financial Accountant is a role within Global Supply & Procurement Finance team. Based in Budapest and requires supportive and challenging business partnering. Success is entirely dependent on managing and maintaining the excellent relationship with the stakeholders (Commercial Finance team, BPM Team, FP&R, Budget owners)


Purpose of Role


Critical to success is to have an excellent understanding of core financial processes and the work required to ensure tasks are completed accurate and timely. An understanding of how SAP, planning and reporting works, its outputs and inputs, is essential, as is a sensitivity to the reporting needs of the team’s many customers.


Top accountabilities


Responsible for daily operational accounting and financial activities. Solves arising issues, liaises with stakeholders and with other financial colleagues to solve specific issues.
Participate to the month-end close, reporting and reconciliation process in accordance with the agreed internal and group timetable. Ensure the completeness and the accuracy of financial records.
Working closely with other in-house and local financial teams
Liaise with outsource providers and actively participate on the captive migration RTR project.
Driving issue resolution, pro-actively seek out better ways of doing things and drive implementation of “simpler, faster, better” processes and ways of working.
Proactively suggests improvements/additional control points to build in and takes an active part in process improvement projects, in implementation and in the follow up.


Qualifications and experience required


University or College degree in Economics or Finance and Accounting
3-4 years experience in Accounting, technical accounting skills is required
Capable of working in a deadline driven environment.
Experience of working in a multi-national financial environment
Has customer focus to be able to build excellent relationships with relevant internal and external customers
Hard working personality, flexibility
Good business English, able to communicate effectively
Experience in working with SAP or integrated software system is an advantage.
International (part) qualification (IAS/UK/US GAAP) is an advantage.                APPLY
