The Black Belt (Six Sigma Leader) for the Research & Development area in Aviation business demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives, with focus on Engineering Design and Product Development. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within engineering areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
  • Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional team empowered to execute the Lean Six Sigma strategy and tools, to improve process capability and eliminate defects
  • Deliver improvement in process capability, producibility of designs and business processes to reduce defects and attain world-class levels of quality through application of Lean Six Sigma tools
  • Identify process improvement projects
  • Facilitate, train, and coach stakeholders in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools
  • Work with operating leaders and teams to uncover and assess lean Six Sigma opportunities for GE and its suppliers
  • Serve as a change agent in institutionalizing Lean Six Sigma quality
  • Communicate teams’ progress to Business Leaders
  • Educate, coach, and mentor Green Belts and others on Lean Six Sigma philosophy and application
  • Propose process technology improvements and capital expenditures
  • Constantly seek, share, and implement best practices
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Technical University
  • At least 5 additional years of experience in a Process Improvement position
  • Knowledge of statistical methods
  • Experience working in an Engineering Design and Development organization
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in all customer service areas
  • Green or Black Belt certification
