Position Description

Location: Budapest office
Internship start date: September 2013
Contract: 20-30-40 h/w contract

The Legal Entities Group (LEG) operates within Client Reference Data area of Enterprise Data & Services Group (ED&S) with the Technology & Data organization at Morgan Stanley. ED&S provides leverage to Morgan Stanley's business through standardized data and enterprise-wide services. LEG is responsible for legal entity data processing, which includes validating and maintaining external legal entity data and documentation for client business originating from the Institutional Securities Group (ISG).
LEG has the following core teams:
- The Data Management Team's role is to create, validate and maintain data about legal entities.
- The Regulatory Documentation Team's core focus is the review, approval and storage of external legal entity data and documentation required to meet Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and certain other regulations in various regions across the globe.
- The Data Quality Team focus is to manage the data quality program that underpins all of the processes managed by the team.

LEG partners closely with the Legal and Compliance Division, Risk Management, Operations, and other groups within ED&S to help the Firm's Sales and Trading and Private Wealth Management (PWM) business units comply with KYC (Know Your Customer), and certain other regulations that involve data and/or documentation requirements. This reference data is leveraged across the Firm and it's critical that this data meets certain quality standards, such as accuracy, completeness and timeliness.

We are looking for an Intern to help us with our Data Quality and Business Process reviews.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and assess business processes in relation to Data Management, AML, etc. Conduct workflow analysis, and determines how processes can be improved with resources and tools. Identify inefficiencies in Onboarding processes and partner with management, staff and other areas of ED&S to implement streamlined processes
• Contribute to the business case development, and participate in continuous process improvement including implementing ongoing changes and defining performance measurements.
• Proactively identify, analyze/quantify, and articulate the impact of risk and develop/execute action plans.
• Review and respond appropriately to exception reports and management reports designed to help manage risk (regulatory risk, operational risk, etc). Improve quality and effectiveness of these reports and automate existing reporting with others and/or establish new reports where needed.
• Help cleanse known erroneous data

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
• Programming knowledge (VBA)
• Understanding of process mapping and basic business analysis
• BSc or MSc student
• Working level of English
• Outstanding attention to detail and analytical ability
