The MDS Engineer performs diagnostic on machinery behavior based on vibration and other mechanical measurements and
expertise, at customer sites. The engineer also provides mechanical expertise to configure Bently Nevada machinery
management systems. He also conducts training to customers.
The actual duties that the person becomes qualified to perform may be expanded in scope and nature based on the on-the-job
experiences which are available. The company provides extensive internal training.
-Diagnose machinery problems based upon vibration data, operational data, and customer information
-React to customer required travel in a timely manner, while bringing all required diagnostic equipment
-Produce complete documentation of findings/analysis/recommendations
-Assess job site Safety
-Balancing: Determine and direct placement of Balance weights
-Alignment: Reverse Dial, Laser, Optical Methodologies
-Perform Asset Management Studies based on the analysis of machine behavior and operation
-Communicate professionally with customer and other team members
-Understand T&C (Terms and Conditions) commitments
-Timely and accurately input hours, expenses, timesheets in internal systems
-Set up On-the-job training
-Conduct internal training and training to customer
-Support preparation of quotations
-Participate in developing and sharing knowledge of machine behavior, diagnostics, rotor dynamics
- College degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
-Engineer, MSc in the field of mechanical engineering
-Excellent written and oral communication skills, to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
-Mechanical troubleshooting skills, "hands-on approach"
-Ability to work under pressure
-Willing to travel extensively, up to 70%, worldwide, and significant over-time, work in weekends
-Ability to read, interpret, and understand mechanical prints and drawings
-Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems
-Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems
-Fluent English. Additional languages a plus.
-Valid driver's license and passport (or able to obtain a passport).
-Strong computer skills using MS Office software
-Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and services
-5+ years of vibration analysis experience
-Basic familiarity with computer network systems
-Green Belt Certified (GE Employees only)
-Membership in a technical society
-Excellent interpersonal skills
-Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs
-Self-motivated
