The Engineering Manager - Engine Systems & Design Integration for GEAC (GE Aviation Czech) demonstrates leadership of the engineering function for gas turbine engine systems and design integration, leads a team of engineers, designers and technicians at the Prague (Czech Republic) site and reports to the GEAC Engineering Director.
The position is responsible for integration of engineering design activities associated with product development, manufacturing and field support through all phases of the turboprop product lifecycle. The Engine Systems function includes responsibility for engine technical requirements, performance, and model management. This team leverages the resources available from other GEAC Engineering teams, as well as the GE Aviation engineering network and identifies synergies for implementation within GEAC for product and process improvements.
  • Ensure overall gas turbine engine integration of design activities meets technical and regulatory requirements;
  • Manages risk to ensure assigned programs meet schedule and cost objectives;
  • Provide sustaining effort for the M601 turboprop
  • Manage the launch of the H80 product introduction and entry into service
  • Execution of new product development for the H80 growth engine
  • Provide leadership and technical direction
  • Excellent organization skills, able to track progress vs requirements for complex programs
  • Manage risk while upholding absolute standards in compliance and safety
  • Influence design concepts while leveraging historical data and experiences
  • Provide consulting service to program managers and other personnel
  • Ensure that technically sound, creative advancements in design are integrated throughout all processes, practices and products
  • Identify root cause solutions to products and process technical issues
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the GEAC Systems Engineering team
  • Grow and develop engineering talent to support future products
  • Provide leadership for unyielding compliance and integrity
  • Plan / develop technical and management processes to improve both team and customer productivity
  • Provide support to commercial leaders in support of proposals and customer inquiries
  • Improve areas of project execution and department management through Six Sigma methodology, metrics and data
  • Responsible to undertake the necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality non-compliance monitoring and audit programs
  • Fully support manufacturing, sourcing, test, quality and service and product support to ensure optimal delivery, quality, cost and customer satisfaction of GEAC products and services
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college of Science in Engineering
  • At least 5 years’ experience in mechanical design or analysis of gas turbine engines
  • Additional 5 years of technical leadership experience in the area engine systems design integration – at the engine or major sub-system level
  • Experience leading a significant engineering design program
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead multi-functional and multi-cultural teams
  • Masters of Science in Engineering
  • Recognized authority in gas turbine engine systems and technology issues
  • Experience in certification under EASA Part 21 or FAA requirements
  • Ability to initiate total quality and change initiatives
