| Position description As a 2nd level support Storage Administrator (with NAS experience) you will have a great opportunity to maintain, support and troubleshoot these high-end devices in cooperation with the platform or application teams such as a Wintel, Unix, Linux, SAP, Oracle, SQL, DB2, etc. You will coordinate hardware and perform software installation and its maintenance and upgrades. One of the key tasks is to keep the environment documentation accurate and up-to-date to enable fast and smooth team performance and to comply with the security and operational standards and procedures. Production support 5x8 hours (Monday – Friday) central shifts with flexible office hours (based on service level agreements), eventual on-call duty support for critical issues with high impact to the infrastructure. Responsibilities Maintains and monitors SAN&NAS devices Plans, schedules and performs proactive maintenance, including hardware and software upgrades and patch installation Performs Storage system tuning including monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing performance Proactively oversees resolution of storage service disruptions and implementation of preventative measures Analyzes and solves complex problems of network (operating) system hardware and software components Analyzes impact of SAN&NAS network systems and components for the technical infrastructure and communicates the results with the responsible technical specialists in order to reach the appropriate and effective use of the various technologies Ensures regular reporting to management regarding performance and service levels of network systems, in order to inform responsible management about major deviations and/or corrective actions Participates in projects with other IT departments and/or external vendors Requirements Experience in managing one or more types of IBM Storage Systems : SVC, DS8000, XIV,DS4000, Storwize V7000, ESS Experience in managing large SAN Fabrics based on Brocade (preferably), Cisco or McData switches Understanding of HA, D/R, performance, availability, scalability of SANs and Storage Systems Experience in managing one or more types of IBM nSeries / NetApp : Appliance / Gateway Good communication skills - both verbal and written in English Analytical problem solving and root cause analysis experience Service oriented mindset and ability to work in a fast changing environment Preferred skills Experience with other vendors Storage Systems Brocade BCFP UNIX/Linux certification ITIL SNIA SCSP What we offer Work in a motivating multicultural environment gaining exposure to many areas of the business across the IBM worldwide Possibility to learn and grow to the position of IT Architect and/or all other areas (Project or people management) Unlimited availability of the E-learning self study facility, free language classes & the IT Lab.
